Wow! That was ridiculously easy to create a blog! Fortunately, I already had a Gmail account, although completely clueless to the fact that I had the option to create a blog, for free, through Blogger. My school has actually used blog technology for reflection during a book study. Unfortunately, the book study was not optional so the blog was negatively looked upon. It was just another mandate in many of the teachers' perspectives. In fact, I am curious if anyone even read any of the posts other than what you wrote yourself.
During my course work for my Gifted Endorsement, I found Glogster to be an amazing tool to use for my projects and implement within my classroom. My students and I loved how user friendly it was and the creativity it allowed for various projects and assignments. I am not necessarily sure it would be useful for professional learning communities and communication, but definitely great for classrooms.
On the other hand, as a future savvy school leader I can see the value in using blogs for professional learning communities, or as a form of communication, at my school. Teams could create their own blogs to use as a form of support, ideas, resources, and reflection. It could also be a valuable asset for vertical alignment in the form of a "parking lot" for questions of other teams. I could pose a question to another grade level, in hopes, that someone could clarify, address, and answer at any time. I like the idea of having an open forum discussion with my colleagues that would be viewed as a tool for learning and growth.
